    Might be the wrong forum for this question but . . .

    How often is this enforced? I have this on my license (full) but no longer need glasses - eye lasering. Is it worth my while getting this removed or is it ever checked?

    If you are involved in an accident and the Garda notes on his report that you weren't wearing corrective lenses as required by your licence, then yes it could have serious implications for you.

    I have been stopped in the past (random road blocks) and was wearing contacts and nothing was said.

    That would be a defence. The Garda may ask you about it at the scene.

    Though that said, I've been in an accident and the attending Garda didn't even check licences at the scene, never mind whether I was wearing contacts.

    But it's something they may do. For peace of mind I would have my licence updated. Though maybe sit on it till next year;

    1. New-style licences are going to be introduced anyway.
    2. Your eyesight can deteriorate for the first year after getting laser surgery, so an eye test today may not be valid in 3 months.

    Just rang the RSA to check . . .

    Once its been certified that my vision is sufficient, then I just need to hold onto that info/cert from my optician until my next license renewal. There's no requirement to update it. Just send it in with my renewal and ask for the change to be reflected.
