You know we're in times of austerity when my biggest extravagence of March is a new blade for the stanley knife.
Simple pleasure though the way it can slice through the baled silage now...;)

jees... Robbed again!! These are fairly good quality retractable blade into a proper pastic handle that you can get a good grip on for around the bottom of the bale

It will not matter if you lose the fecking thing and mine are cheap plastic ones however they do the job and did not damage the tyre after I rolled over it the good stanley one might damage the tyre

I use a file to sharpen stanleys blades it is like a razor
and you can sharpen it several times.

Real farmers, when their silage knife gets lost invest in one of these

Sorry Atilathehun, i won't be joining the ranks of real farmers (as per your description;)) in the foreseeable future for the following reasons:
    1. No money to buy that bale grab
    2. No money to buy a tractor/loader to lift that bale grab
    3. I kinda like the tactile experience of ripping the bale open with my stanley, hydraulic oil ain't gonna cut it for me...

Triangular mower section where the two rivet holes are used to fix it to a nice wooden handle. Simple to sharpen with file when needed. Jobs a Good'un:)

You should post that in the "Labour saving and general guntering thread", it sounds like a good idea

What you want is one of those French Opinel knives and break the blade in half. Gives you unrivaled sharpness, power and control when removing the plastic.
