Quick question regarding meal replacement

    Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding meal replacement shakes.

I am looking to drop down around 5 - 7 kilos. I am overweight and the biggest thing for me is a healthy diet.

I don't have time for a lot of prep for meals and when I do eat at the moment it is down to convienience.

I am semi - active play football once a week, I have just joined a gym and I will be going 3-4 times per week.

My logic is if I am replacing both problem meals breakfast and lunch with a healthy substitute and doing more in the gym I should do ok.

So has anybody got any recommendations on which brand to use or on what other supplements to take with it.

    Thanks

There's no replacement for a good meal. Supplements are just that: supplements. Occasionally, when stuck for time etc, using a protein shake as a replacement for a meal will get you by. But you shouldn't actively and regularly cut out eating a good meal in favour of having a quick shake. If you have time to play football once a week and go to the gym 3-4 times a week, you've got 30 minutes a day to prepare your meals.

Now i aint telling ya what to do....but from my own xp if your serious about shifting weight off...or indeed on......you better find the time:)

Weight loss is all about the food...gym and football dont mean jack if your food aint in order......first things first!!!

Weight loss needs to be sustainable. There is no point in drinking shakes for two meals a day for x amount of time to lose 7kgs, if you are going to return to old habits afterwards and put it all back on again.

If you spend a little time figuring out quick meals (say 5 or 6 main dishes) and shop in advance for what you will need, it might only take 10 mins longer to make something tasty than it would take to prep a yuk shake and chug it down.

And you say your problem meals are breakfast and lunch. Scrambled eggs can be prepped and ready in five minutes. Porridge with honey and a banana is ready in three. You really cannot use lack of time as an excuse. Educate yourself on healthy options instead, as this is a much better long term solution to keeping weight off.
