...saying they have recieved information that I was working during my time on the dole and wasn't telling them.

I did tell them every day I worked (I'm a sub teacher) and brough paychecks in as soon as I got them, as per the instructions I was told in the office itself. So I'm wondering....where did they recieve this information from? :S

Also, it says I have to submit paychecks; do I get these back once they are done with them? Or should I make copies incase I never see them again?

Anyone can make an anonymous online report of suspected welfare fraud https://www.welfare.ie/EN/Secure/Pages/ReportSuspectFraud.aspx Possibly you were reported by someone who is obviously unaware that you are declaring all your income. Make copies of everything!

Someone poking nose in where it shouldn't be, obviously someone has reported you not knowing you are above board, just photocopy them first before you send them in.

Ok. Thanks. Not nice thinking someone would try and get me in trouble like that :(

No it's not but it seems to be on the rise now ,and if it was that no point breaking your heart over it wondering who it was, you will never find out.

Just send in the information they have requested and copy everything.

    Good luck

Its not about trying to get you into trouble OP its about reporting welfare fraud. Now you aren't committing welfare fraud but others are.

On a side note - do the SW go back to the 'informer' and tell them that its all above board?

Sadly, I can take a good guess exactly who it was and it is about trying to get me in trouble and being a ***** to me. The irony is that the person is screwing the system himself...

Meh. I'LL post the things away today then...

No, they are not going to give out details of an investigation

Just wondered. I can see why they wouldn't but then surely they would get people re-informing or complaining that 'its still going on and nothing has been done'

I guess then the office can disregard the complaint; they investigated and found nothing so thats all they can do...

Report them, it's your civic duty.

Well, the truth is I couldnt afford to report them. I will leave it at that for now.

    Thanks anyway guys :-)

It may not have been an anon report. SW also get reports from Revenue of people who are claiming sw and working. You have nothing to worry about as you have declared all the days you have worked.

The exact same thing happened to me. It was annoying (and stressful!) but they sorted it out pretty quickly once they had the info they needed. Good luck.

If the Revenue made the claim I was working though, surely they'd be able to see I wasn't working a full 6 month period, but only a few days here and there which have already been declared with the office?

Yes that is true but maybe sw just want to look into it. Lets go with a rule of thumb... sw get x amount of reports in from revenue and decided we will investigate x amount of these reports even though these people have informed us that they were working. This is called a control measure in sw.

You can ask if this review has been instigated by an anon report. It is unlikely that the sw inspector will confirm this. And even under FOI your file will not show who the anon reporter is even if there is one.

I did ask yesterday what caused this and I just got fobbed off and told the woman wasnt at her computer so couldnt see the details. This was mere seconds after she was able to list off dates I was defo working as well. Anyway, I posted everything off so it will be interesting to see what happens I guess. ;-)

You can always find out who is trying to stitch you up or gossip about your business by carefully planting a complete lie and seeing if it comes back to you. I've often done it. You don't need the DSP to tell you who, you just need them to tell you what. Its a fun game for trapping sh1theads. In your case, you CAN return fire. No?

Somebody poking their nose in where it shouldn't be? But social welfare is paid for by the tax payers, so it is their (and our) concern... No? If you think/know someone is defrauding the system, then surely it's your responsibility to report this, and let the department sort it out...

I agree to an extent that if a tax payer is concerned their money is being misused, they have a right to complain. But this isnt a case of Someone finding out about me defrauding the system and doing their duty as a tax paying citizen; there is no way anyone could have thought I was since I am not that type of person and anyone who would know me would know I am not. Unfortunatly, I am not Mr. Popular with some people though, and this sort of thing is right up one persons alley in terms of trying to cause me trouble.

Out of interest, how long do these anon claims tend to take between the report being lodged and the letter being sent out to the person being investigated? And how long do they take to resolve?

But if they think that you (or anyone) is defrauding they should report it. They don't need to know the whole story, that's the job of the social welfare people. If you have nothing to hide then there should be nothing to worry about...
