Ok, so i bought a 2nd hand car 04 last week. 70k kms on the clock. 2 previous owners, both ladies. In excellent condition.Done the cartel thing and nothing was flagged up. i.e mileage/finance etc.
I have just noticed a service sticker on the top right hand corner of windscreen which says date of next service 10/2008 or 63k kms? Should i be suspicious? or not?
    Thanks

Did you check the service history?

I'd be suspicious but you'd need to find out the service history before you accuse anyone of tampering with the milage.

Didn't accuse anyone of anything yet.

Bit late checking now if you have bought it.

Is there a stamped service book? If so call the garages that stamped it and see. Are there any old NCT certs?

You should always verify the service history before buying a car. Have a look in the service book and ring every garage who stamped the book to verify that the work was done as and when stamped in the book. All this info should tie in with the displayed mileage on the car, mileage on old NCT certs etc. If the book's not there then contact the seller to see if they have it. If not, then all you can do is give the car a full service (including the cambelt if it has one) and cross your fingers.

IMO that sticker would tie in with the current figure of 70k km. It would mean the service was carried out in October 07 and that there was approx. 43k km on the car at that time.
I would be suspicious of such low mileage in general but not because of that sticker.
