This might be even better than the Usual Suspects ending and makes more sense too.

A lot of the best TV show endings are ones that weren't intended to be endings.

What's your favourite movie/tv series ending of all time?

    Mine is the Sopranos:

Ugh. I wish people would stop with the fawning tributes to the apparent genius of David Chase when the reality is that there was no actual ending as such, he just left it open in case he needs a few bob 10 years down the line, and anyone who believes that Tony was killed off camera (which seems to be the most popular view) clearly hadnt been paying attention to the plot direction of the prior few episodes (the war was over. The FBI was clearly going to be tailing him anyway as they would not have had 100% confirmation it was all over, whereas the viewer did. Ergo, who in the fcuk is going to whack him in a crowded restaurant when there are armed FBI agents sitting in a car outside watching him)

Best ending had to be to Only Fools and Horses (the real mid 90s ending, not the rubbish they revived for 3 episodes about 7 years ago. Can barely watch those ones)

The finale of Six Feet Under, a series everyone ought to see:

Nate, the guy who says "c'mon, everybody's waiting!" to Claire at the start, has been dead for some time, yet she doesn't bat an eyelid ... which tells you something about the tone of the series. Memory is a powerful thing.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

    Miley: Well, holy God.

The ending of Jim Henson's Dinosaurs traumatised the **** out of me as a kid. I was really upset about it, and my mam tried to convince me it would be fine, and they'd be back for another season next year.

But I collected those Dinosaur magazines and knew better - it was snowing, and that meant the end for all those characters. There weren't no coming back from that.

There might have been better show conclusions on better shows since then, but it left a hell of an impression. In retrospect it was a very dark, gutsy ending for that kind of show.
