iPhone or iPod Touch and normal phone?

I've had an iPod Touch for over 3 years now and love it. It goes everywhere with me, and the only thing I find a little annoying is that I have to try and find free wi-fi when I'm out and about. Not a huge deal really in the grand scheme of things. However, it seems to be on its way out, the headphone socket packed in about a year ago (I've been using a bluetooth connection since then) and every now and then, it just takes a long time to start up music or apps will crash more than I think they should.

So, I've been thinking about getting a new one, but I now wonder if I shouldn't be looking at an iPhone instead. You see, I've basically shunned any fancy phones for years, my current one is a Nokia c1 and it does me perfect. I'm an extremely light user; last month, I sent about 150 texts and had less than 20 quid in calls, so even the most frugal iPhone plans would be overkill for me. I usually stick to a 20 euro payg topup per month, and even stop that when the credit gets too high (I get free texts with the 20 topup so it tends to build up).

I guess I'm just looking for a bit of advice, in terms of sticking to an iPod + phone option instead of entering the 20th century and going for the iPhone. I'm open to opinions.
