People rave about Omar and no doubt he is one of the greatest characters television has produced but Kima is as interesting and complex as any of the other characters in The Wire.

When your most memorable moment in the series is

getting shot

you lose any claim to being interesting.:D

Also noticed there is no place for Slim Charles, just shows how many good characters the show featured.

Shes a lesbian cop who works in a police department dominated by men. She has one of the biggest story lines outside the whole game theme with her rejection of the baby

I personally think Stringer is one of the most overrated characters in the show.

He's such a compromise, half gangster, half business person, no integrity.

Is that not what makes him so great though?

I mean you can clearly see the difference between how things were run when Avon was there and when Stringer took over. Avon went around with baggy jeans on and all that. Avon is the polar opposite of Stringer.

Stringer tried to become more businessman like. He realised the potential and tried to get everyone in the city to come together to work as one by forming the Co-Op.

I think he was a great character. Take a look at this scene below. You can see Stringer is essentially trying to become a figure similar to Gus from Breaking Bad. He wants to build up his company so that he looks like a legitimate businessman. He gets into meetings with politicians and property developers.

It's quite brilliant if you ask me.

He may have no integrity but look at the world he is trying to make a living in. It's kill or be killed.

Actually the more I think of it Stringer is an amazing character. How many drug dealers have "The Wealth of Nations" in their apartment? The contrast between Avon (who spent his free time managing a basketball team) and Stringer (who took classes on Macroeconomics) is unbelievable.

The episode where Stringer dies (if your in this thread you really should expect spoilers) was on recently, had a serious bout of the blues after it for a good hour or so. Still hard to take for me
