10k extra miles on car after money handed over

    Hi

    I bought a 5 year old car from a garage last week and the next day I noticed there were 10k extra (70 instead of 60k)miles on the clock. On the contract it says 60k. When I test drove the car the week before there was 60k on the clock. I was shocked to see that just after I left the garage there was another 10k on the clock!

    What can I do here? Of course I just signed everything on the contract when I was purchasing the car but I hadn't spotted the extra 10k on the clock!

    The odometer was quite obvioulsy tampered with?

    Thanks..

    And the sales contract says 60k. But there is 70k on the clock.

    I was shocked to discover this.

    If you are completely sure it may be a faulty odo.

    What type of car is it?

    Would you not be better asking the garage before you ask here? If you signed a contract which says 60k and there's 70, then it's a breach of contract and you get your money back. But if you leave it too long then they'll just claim you could of put the miles on it.

    I doubt that there's much people on the forum can do to advise you until you speak with the garage.

    Indeed. I'll get on to them tomorrow. I had a rough weekend. Family member deceased.

    Sorry to hear about that.

    You might want to get the ECU checked to see how many miles are on it. If the odometer has been messed with once, then it could of been messed with before. I do realise that clocking a car to a higher mileage is the opposite of the point, but it would be worth checking.

    Was the ad at 60k and car at 70k or did the actual mileage jump by 10k between when you bought and collected?

    Reverse clocking!?! :eek::eek::eek:

    The mileage jumped by 10k in the few days between I took it for a test drive and collected it.

    Yes, it's odd.
