Sony Camcorder and memory card

I have a SOny Handycam DVD608 which takes mini DVDs and also Memory Stick Pro Duos. I was having trouble finding new DVDs so I went out and bought a 16GB Pro Duo to use instead. Now I've just found out that the camcorder will only save photos onto the memorycard and not video. Is there any way I can get around this?
