Double taxation

Has anybody else on here noticed that the new taxes/levies applied to our electricity and gas bills are then further taxed? I am with Bord Gais for both. On my gas bill they apply the "carbon tax" and on my electricity bill they apply a "PSO Levy". Levy is merely another word for a tax. On both bills they first apply the "standing charge", then the cost of units of electricity/gas used and then the "carbon tax" or "PSO Levy". They then total all of this up before applying VAT. This means that VAT is being charged upon the "carbon tax" and upon the "PSO Levy"! We are therefore being taxed upon these taxes.. RIP OFF!

Has been happening for many years.

VAT is applied to the duty-inclusive cost of tobacco, alcohol, etc.

Yeah, happens everytime you fill your car aswell.

There have been calls in the past to address, but nothing's ever been done.
