Hi i have a 2000 Toyota Avensis lean burn model

and my prob is the last few days i have had the Air fan on not Air Conditiong, and i heard this Noise coming from the Glove Box and i realised when i turned the fan of the noise stopped ,

The Fan still works when i have it on and on high etc

Would the motor be on the way out ? any clues please

well i had a go at it and :

I found the circular fan i took the 3 screws out and there was a small leaf in it , i took it out but noise seems to be still there do i need to open the motor of it ???

what about the funnel housing, ???

Thats a big enough job pulling all that ductwork out.
Have you cleaned the cabin filter? That should help airflow and possibly whatever is contacting the fan might just get blown out into the filter.
The filter is in the drivers footwell, left of the footrest, behind the carpet that is clipped to the centre console.
Pull the two plastic mushrooms out and peel the carpet down. At the very front of the console is a rectangular lid with two clips sticking out.
Squeeze these in and pull the lid out towards the accelerator pedal.
There is two foam covered tabs, the bottom one pulls straight out and the top one pulls down and then out.

    No not behind the glovebox
Just kneel down in the drivers footwell and peel the carpet back from the centre console and it will be visible just behind the bulkhead.
Mine had probably not been changed for a long time they were like coalminers lungs.
I washed them with detergent and dried them overnight.
New ones aren't that expensive but I was in a hurry and hadn't ordered them from the motorfactors.
