My favourite TV channel - gutted - I complained to Sky - they said it simply wasn't popular enough. Here's their reply:

"Sky is committed to investing in the programmes that matter most to our customers. Despite investing significantly in Current TV for five years, the channel simply hasn't made the positive impact with our customers that we'd hoped for.

Unfortunately, Current TV is one of the least watched subscription channels on Sky. Based on this, we have taken the decision not to renew our deal with them and instead will reinvest our customer's money in channels that give them more value from their Sky Subscription.

We have however given Current TV the option to remain on the Sky platform as a free to air channel.

For now, you can still watch Current TV on Sky but it may mean it's not available in the future, dependent on the decision Current TV make.

Once more thank you for taking the time to get in touch."

hay guys, judging by the thread we are a minority, just like sky say... on one hand current was brilliant because it did give perspectives on issues we just dont get in corrie, eastenders, X-factor, and every other god forsaken bull**** programme that the majority of reality tv vouyerists (hope i spelled that right :) ) tune into dont give.. however, its origins are from an american politician and that in itself must be questioned, after all it was offered to go free to air and has unfortunately been obviously refused.. this to me, smells of profiteering and fly's in the face of everything a so called current tv should be about. current tv programmes should be about current affairs and should be objective which leads to the other hand :) ... having watched many of the programmes, particularly-- Cuba: Waiting for a revolution, i detected a biasedness that is all too familiar with western media which leads me to conclude that, perhaps were better off without a wolf in sheeps clothing?? I may be wrong and i loved the channel, even with bias because it was so different to earlier mention nonsense programmes so i will sadly miss it... (hope i havnt offended soap viewers or reality tv vouyers :):)

@poolsupporter - unfortunately you're right in that we do seem to be a minority - i found this station by accident and have watched it for the last two years - and am very glad I did.
Having watched docs like 'Gasland' and "How to Start a Revolution', to mention just two of my favourites, I wonder where I am going to see programmes of this quality again on Sky.
I do think it strange that they seem to have refused going fta and their website had very little to say on the matter of their closing down.
As you say, even if i too did detect some bias in some of their programmes, I am going to miss it very much.

That's such a sorry reflection on the TV-viewing public.

Current Tv was an interesting channel, real sorry to hear its finishing, the way they did the mini documentaries by people on the net was interesting.

I am also a fan and found that it was one of the only channels on sky that i could put on at anytime of the day and find something interesting to watch. Unfortunately we are indeed the minority which is proven by the substantial viewing figures for repetitive reality tv that sky prefers to keep on the air (which obviously makes sense). just hope that some other channel can show quality programming like current did.

also a fan...why was it so far down channels, i had to be told about it 6 months ago. It should have been giving a fair placement in documnetary section to give it a chance.

Didnt they have a web version of the channel too. I used to watch that, but then they took out the option to select the programs you want and made you watch it like you watch the tv - in a linear fashion. I stopped watching then.
