The computer-model predictions of alarming global warming have seriously exaggerated the warming by CO2 and have underestimated other causes. Since CO2 is not a pollutant but a substantial benefit to agriculture, and since its warming potential has been greatly exaggerated, it is time for the world to rethink its frenzied pursuit of decarbonization at any cost.

Global warming an exaggerated theory that numerous entrepreneurs made a load of money on with their wee gadgets etc....

    Whats your spin on it?

Temps are still on the rise - just because it is not as fast as first predicted it doesn't mean that it's not happening.

It's a natural cycle that has happened many times in the Earth's past.

Keep in mind that we have a limited supply of oil and we need it for more than just energy production.

We use it for fertilisers, plastics and many medicines (at least as a base).

It makes no sense to burn it, even if global warming is not real (which this article by no means proves).

There is a lot of bull**** surrounding the whole thing, but at the end of the day being environmentally minded and wanting to preserve what resources we have is hardly a bad thing. They can only last for so long.

Agree 100%, unfortunately the Greens did nothing to further this approach while in Government and merely insisted on taxing people already doing their best on the double, abandoning their polluter pays philosophy.

And let's not forget that they put power over ethics when it came to getting into bed with FF and also had a chance to prevent the disasters that were NAMA and the cesspit guarantee.

There is room for a proper, encouraging and sustainable green agenda, but the Green Party isn't the way to go.

    Boy was I wrong sadly!

Well my 'spin' is that people making this argument is nothing new. I don't see how one of their letters being posted on the WSJ website adds anything new to the debate.

According to the WSJ notes before the letter, it was their response to this article entitled 'Check With Climate Scientists for Views on Climate'

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204740904577193270727472662.html
Do you consult your dentist about your heart condition? In science, as in any area, reputations are based on knowledge and expertise in a field and on published, peer-reviewed work. If you need surgery, you want a highly experienced expert in the field who has done a large number of the proposed operations.

You published "No Need to Panic About Global Warming" (op-ed, Jan. 27) on climate change by the climate-science equivalent of dentists practicing cardiology.

Also - just because there's money to be made from it does not mean that it's untrue.
