hot water problem

we just finished our new build. We have solar and oil. The solar panels are at the moment heating our 300 litre cyclindar say at the top of the tank to 36 degrees. I had noticed that the oil didnt seem to get the hot water very hot so last night i experimented a bit.

I left the oil on for one hour and thirty minutes and the hot water still only got to 51 degrees. i then put the boiler up to its maximum setting and the water after 30mins got to 60degrees. Should the oil be getting the tank warmer in a shorter time period. Also when the water was at sixty degrees i went for a shower and at its maiximum setting i could still stand under it no bother. Is this a problem that is fixed easily or is this all just normal.

if the solar panels are getting the water to 36degrees on there own how long shoulod it take the oil to bring the tank say to 60degrees.

I know there is alot of question but if anyone had any answers or just gave me an idea of what is wrong it would be great

    Thanks

If you have solar attached to the cylinder there is probably a thermostatic valve near the cylinder to ensure water never reachs the taps/shower at a dangerous temperature in a worst case scenario.

This valve is adjustable so it may be just set too low. A word of warning dont just go turing valves in the hotpress or wherever if you dont know what they do.

How quickly the oil heats the cylinder is down to a number of things such as
    1. temp of the incoming water the cooler it is the more energy is needed to heat it.
    2. the balancing of the heating system could be slightly off.

Also dont turn the boiler up to max if you dont know what else you are affecting , you could be affecting the temp of the rads aswell , if its a new build you should get your plumber to walk you through it.

Also the solar wouldnt be working at its best the last few days with so much cloud cover etc. if its working right you will see a big difference on clear skied days.
