Can Nitrate inspections be unannounced or can you look for a postponement for 48hrs. My last inspections were unannounced so just getting my details correct. In the past inspectors just telephoned to say they were standing in the middle of one of my yards if I wanted to join them.

usually council just follow up complaints. once there in your gate they linger like the smell of sh*t about. They just walk in, unless your tricky:D

or a prosecution, prefer anyday to be dealing with the dept of Ag. they understand and are more tolerable. Council are just a shower of extreme pen pushers who sling sh*t at whoever is standing infront of them so that they take attention off there own house

If anyone want help with regard to dealing with Nitrates, inspections so forth drop me a PM. I will be more than glad to help

I found the co co inspector fine with me 2 years ago. She was reasonable, just doing her job and had no issues

In our county we get three mths to sort it unless there is a serious pollution, we had one prosecution lately after a farmer ignored their warnings for six mths. Our co. council dids approx 1000 inspections this year

Me too. permit to haul, permit to tip, unauthorised developments/quarry.
Dirty road; quote from council "the road is supposed to be dirty, you have great f***ing neighbours"
And a threatened fine of €1.5m

if there is serious pollution in my county you might as well turn your self in. They will issue a letter first and then immediately you get a SECTION 23 notice if your a very naughty boy. once they have issued you this you are on the path heading toward the legal eagles. I know of cases where the local councils taking farms to court when they knew themselves they hadnt a leg to stand and hoping that poor farmer Joe would back down and have lost the case. It makes no odds to them as they are spending you and I's money whereas the small fry farmer has to put his hand in his own pocket to defend himself.
