I got a real good feeling that Ballabrigs will win the national again.

Currently 16's with ladbrokes, but no doubt better value to be had elsewhere.

    Must check out Bet Fair....

He'll probably be carrying top weight. Not for me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 405 ✭✭Yeah Yeah Yeah

Right enough, but hes a good genuine sort...whos your fancy Urban Sea?

to be honest, I had him on a 5 timer, last horse to come in, paid for family hoiliday, so have soft spot all right.

I'll never forget the commentators words "this looks like a national horse", and so I did him in the national, paid for the missus to go out on a few girrls nights out...

Must have been a nice five timer. I'm not sure yet, I was sweet last year on Backstage, this year Chicago Grey really catches the eye. Was thinking of backing Treacle,I backed him when he was second in the Paddy Power at Christmas. 40/1 was available until Tom Segal tipped him :(

Every winner since WWII (1946) has been aged 8 to 12

    8 of 10 winners (including last 7) have been aged 9 or 10 (7-14-198)

In the past 7 years all 28 places were filled by horses aged 8 to 11

The only horse aged older than 11 to win this since 2002 was Amberleigh House who was placed in previous year’s race and had finished 1st or 2nd in previous 3 Becher Chases.

No horse aged below 8 or above 12 has made the frame in the past 10 years (0-0-39)

Horses carrying 10-11 or more: 6-17-172

Horses carrying 10-10 or less: 4-13-227

In recent years with the weights being more closely bunched, higher weights have done better with the 14 of 16 places in the past 4 years being filled by horses carrying 10-11 or more.

8 of 10 winners were initially allotted a weight of between 10-5 and 11-0 on publication of National weights.

Ran a good race, didnt win, but wasnt pushed or expected to do so, a practice run...he's an honest stayer..OK it's the National, i cringe at the thought of the race, and of any horse getting hurt, but if he doesnt get intereferd with he's gonna be in the frame, and in my opinion, Winner.:D

I would prefer to take a match bet on this race. Better to win at 10/11 than lose at 10/1.

If you take that stance before every bet you'll get no where.

Yeah nearly all of them except for these:

    · Finished in first 4 in a previous Topham, Becher or Aintree Grand National

    · Finished in first 3 in a previous Welsh National

    · Finished in first 5 in a previous Hennessy Gold Cup

    And this

Won a listed or graded chase worth 29K+

Although he did win a novice chase at the festival worth 40k+
