When can we walk on a rejuvenated lawn?

Our lawn needs some (not so) TLC and we're going to scarify it followed by sanding and seeding. Given that there will be some existing grass after the scarifying, how long after seeding before the kids can run around on it? We plan to do this at the start of April and live in Dublin.

Probably 6 weeks I'd say. It would be best to have a cut or two on it first so the grass has a chance to bush out a bit and be sturdy to take traffic. Basically the longer the better. Can you start now while there isn't so much interest in playing outside?

We hope to. Birthday party in mid April can't be rescheduled I'm afraid. Should we hope for bad weather? We're away for most of May so if we don't do it now probably looking at September/October.
