Keeping my car clean

    Hi,
looking for advice on how to stop dirt sticking to my car. I live in the countryside so the roads aren't exactly clean around here and the dirt is splashing up on to my car. I have recently fitted mud flaps to the car to help combat the problem. Is there any extra product i can use on my car to help prevent the dirt from sticking. I currently use warm water and a halfords car wash my dad got a while back. Then i use autoglym aqua wax after that. When I'm finished the car looks great, amazing shine. However within about 3 days the car is rotten dirty again. Any advice. Thanks

Should improve with the weather. Nothing you can do really apart from regular cleaning afaik.

Check out the detailing thread in DIY here.

Heavy dirt that you get on country roads will damage the paintwork as you clean the car if you are not careful.

Best use a pre wash (if you have a power hose) then a 2 bucket approach.

Hey OP, same dilemma here too; rural roads, and sharing them with the slurry spraying season. Not fun.

I would just keep washing and cleaning the cars every week and keep on top of the heavy stuff... your car will be the better for it in the long run imo. Weather and conditions will improve..

Even when the weather is bad I'll spray in under the wheel arches to keep the heavy muck/rotting material out etc.

I'd give her a good clean then seal with HD Wax then keep it washed, its the only thing you can do with the conditions at the moment.

I got a Turtle Wax gift set for Christmas and although I already had car detergent etc. I (dubiously) tried the Wheel-Cleaner and I have to say I was quite surprised with the results.
Muck and dirt don't seemed to be half as attracted to the wheels as they used to.

After using the wheel cleaner try the Turtle Wax Extreme Nano-Tech wax for wheels. It a wax polish sealer and helps keeps brake-dust and stuff sticking to your wheels. As its a wax don't spray it with the wheels on or cover the discs and pads, as it may contaminate the brakes. Ir works well.

Thanks for all the replies, some great advice here. The mud flaps definately are a huge improvement on the car. Two trips in the car today on dirty roads and not a bit of dirt on my doors, delighted with that. I usually rinse the car, then wash it with car soap and warm water, rinse it again, wash it again and rinse it onse more. Then i wax the car.
I shall be trying the wheel cleaner when i have a bit of money saved up again. Damn college budget :/
Here's a pic for now of my work anyways :)
