Operation make space in shed and put cash in pocket.

Almost new Storck road bike frame (size 55/56), purchased new last Autumn. Beautiful, top quality aluminium frame, with carbon fork. It won't take a derailleur anymore so I got it built up as a single speed.
Super, high quality components all around.
    Brakes are dura-ace.
    Levers are dura-ace (9 speed).
Ksyrium equipe wheelset with virtually new (folded) gatorskin tires.
    Felt aluminium bars.
Selle Italia saddle, bbb stem and seat post.
Ultegra chain, less than 6 months old and low mileage.
Shimano compact crankset (34/50). Gearing at the moment is 34:15 but with the chain tensioner set up there is scope to bring that up or down if you'd like.
Pedals are brand new flash fixie yokes (yellow seemed a good idea at the time:))

    Bike is in South Dublin.
    Asking 500 notes.

Lovely frame, but why won't it take a derailleur anymore?

    Ach.

Derailleur went into the spokes around christmas and dropout held fast so one of the derailleur bolt-on holes was damaged. I've been around the block with it and decided to make a single speed out if it. If i had the cash I'd love to get an eccentric rear hub & fixie it altogether. Unless someone takes it off my hands as is in the meantime.

Am I right in thinking that basically the hanger stayed on the derailleur and sheared the bolt on hole on the frame, so there'd be little hope of making a derailleured bike out of this again? If that's the case, it's an awful shame, it's a lovely bike...

Yep, the circuit breaker didn't do its job really you could say. Any repair routes I investigated were a bit speculative for my liking. Nothing to stop it being an extravagant single speed or fixie though :). It's a gorgeous frame to look at and ride, and it's impressively light too for aluminium.

I agree, stunning frame. Sadly though, the hassle of looking for a solution to the hanger problem is going to put me off making an offer for the time being! Good luck with the sale, to be fair, it's almost tempting to offer a decent amount for the wheels, chainset, shifters and brakes (but I'm going to refrain for now!).

In fairness, I'm not selling it as a road bike to be. If was a easy job to make it a regular road bike again, I'd have done that myself. I built it up as a single speed for that reason. In one sense it's far far too good a frame to make into "just" a siingle speed but sure you could say the same about the dura ace bits or the wheels, or why waste a carbon fibre fork etc.

How about if I rephrase it?

I'll sell you kysrium wheels with new tires, a carbon fork, dura-ace levers and brakes, chain set, pedals, levers, cables, bars, bar tape, seat post, stem, saddle, chain tensioner, chain, all for 500 quid.

Oh, and as a sweetener I'll throw in a free Storck frame, no questions asked, how's that?? :D

Is that not a rear hanger that just needs replacing? how is the tensioning device bolted in?

Haha, sounds good! Thing is, the only part I'd really be after is the frame, and if that's had the hanger bolt stripped, well then it's of little appeal to me after that! But to other people, people who need a decent set of wheels, bars, brakes, shifters, cable, saddle, seatpost, stem, bars, bar tape and a carbon fork; this is a bargain!

To the poster above me, I think that the hanger bolt has been damaged, and the single speed tensioner is attached to a device that is linked in with the quick release skewer, judging by the pictures.

Yeah it fits on the skewer.

Thanks but I think it's very fairly priced at asking. Forks and wheels would nearly get me that much. Forks have barely 500km on em I'd say and they're lovely. Bottom bracket is brand new as well, bought & fitted last week. I could give you a few quid luck money off asking in the time-honored tradition, but I'm not gonna give it away.

Tell you what. I'm tuckin' into a beer or two here which might weaken my resolve. So hit me with a few more quid and might well... acquiesce :)

    :D

The wheels are well used and are not mint condition by any means, but they are perfectly true. I sort of inherited them second hand about a year or so ago, but never used them. I dusted them down then a couple of months ago having sold my dedicated training wheels on here (mavic open pro jobbies), and my intention was that these would be my training and workhorse wheels for this year coming, and I'm going to Flanders in April and these were my intended hoops, so there's plenty of life in them. When I was putting this build together I didn't have another wheelset to use so I kinda just defaulted to these. If this bundle doesn't sell, then I'll shelve it, put the cassette back on the kysriums and use them as intended.

Also, you can't see the wear on the levers in the pics above, they are also very well used, but they are absolutely 100% functional. They're straight off a Colnago master olympic belonged to my wife. In one way the cosmetic wear only gives them character.

Anyway, my couch beckons. So I'll accept (albeit under the influence) your offer of 450.

Honestly man, wait til you see the quality and detailing of this frame-set up close, it's a stunner it really is.
