Suggestions to Widen Driveway on a Budget

    Hi Folks.
I want to widen my driveway to put the second car in. Now this will involve cutting back some of my wall / moving the pillar etc, but my question is regarding what surface to use.

I previously widened it 18" so that anyone in the passenger seat wasn't stepping out into wet grass, ruining the lawn in winter. I just dug out the grass, used weed block membrane and put down pebble. Worked fine, but now I want to remove all the grass.

Ideally I'd like cobbles or something. But that's €3k I haven't got. Thinking about pebbling the whole lawn area, but then it'll be half pebble half concrete.

    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Thank You!

You'll have to excavate the lawn area and put in a stable sub-base, typically 100-150mm compacted hardecore/804. Budget permitting you can apply a 25mm decorative finish (tip - use chipped stones Grade 17mm and not rounded pebble, the former consolidate really well).
