Buying contact lenses online?

I have being buying daily contact lenses from specsavers for a while but they are fairly expensive and my aunt advised me to buy online. What i am wondering is when i go to look for daily contacts there is like a million brands and even within one brand there might be like 10 different prices to choose from and they don't each have a description to tell me why there is even a cost difference.

So since trial and error isn't feasible, i was hoping someone could give me some info on maybe the differences if any with the cheap vs. expensive dailys and maybe recommend a brand.

    Thanks for any replies.

P.S i use them for sport so trying to get fairly good ones.

What's the name of the contact lenses you are wearing at the moment?

You shouldn't change to a different type without having a fitting with your optometrist as some may not suit your eyes. If you give the name of the lenses I can probably tell you what ones you are looking for online

Oh right well the ones i have here:
    Brand - Easyvision
    Type - Clarision toric daily
And sure you can type in the power and other little details when buying online.

The lenses are Biomedic 1 day torics. Like I said before, make sure to buy the same type as you don't want to do any damage to your eyes. :D

Obviously some brands are better than others. The main reasons for cost difference is prescription and comfort. You said you use Clarision toric daily, generally toric lenses are more expensive as there is two prescriptions in the lens instead of one. The reason for the second prescription is to correct your astigmatism making the lens more expensive.
It is not a good idea to switch lens type without getting fitted properly at your local opticians. Here is a list of daily lenses you could ask them to try:

    Ciba Vision Focus Dailies Toric
Johnson & Johnson 1 day Acuvue Moist for astigmatism
Johnson & Johnson 1 day Acuvue for astigmatism

If you are wearing your daily contacts more than 4 days a weeks then switching to a monthly lens would work out cheaper for you. Here is some monthly lens types:

Ciba Vision Air Optix for Astigmatism
Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Oasys Toric
Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Advance Toric

    Hope this helps :)

Once you know your prescription and sizing, can't see any problem with ordering online.

Have done it often over recent years, lots of savings to be made.

I bought them on getlenses.ie for years and was always happy with them! You need to just buy the ones that were prescribed for you by the optician
