From B.A. to Primary Teaching. Are These All The Options?

My sister's son is in his final year of a B.A. She says he'd like to do primary teaching. She's been looking at possible options but isn't well up on any of them. I've taken a look at threads here and I reckon he has 3 options.

    1. He could apply for the post grad course.

    2. He could apply for Hibernian.

    3. He could go to Britain.

    A few questions......

    a. How difficult is it to get into each one?

    b. When would he need to apply for each?

    c. Does he need an honour in a Leaving Cert science subject to go to Britain? (I don't think he did any science subject for Leaving Cert)

    d. Can Irish students in Britain qualify for a grant while being a student teacher there?

    Thanks in advance.

Speaking from experience getting on to the post grad in Ireland isnt always very easy. There are always considerably more applicants than there are places (maybe 1000 applicants for 100-120 places) his Irish would need to be excellent for the Irish oral interview. But it really does depend on the individual and whether he has anything on his CV that would show commitment to teaching.

Hibernian is another good option but the major downfall with this is that it costs close to 10,000 euro. And from what Ive heard from friends in the teaching field some principals look less favourably on people who have completed the hibernia course..

The post grad deadline in Ireland used to be October but the course is being restructured so this deadline as far as I know has changed
