Rent allowance not come through

Hey, we were told to supply documents to renew our rent allowance, we did then 2 months later received a letter saying we need to supply more documents, we sent this before christamas but did not hear back from then. The rent allowance has gone in ever since, the last time we got it was at the end of janauary at a reduced rate with no explanation.

We presumed everything was grand, but today i went to pay the rent and find the rent allowance did not come through. I went to the local social welfare and they told me they dont have any information on rent allowance, and gave me a number ive already had before that never ever gets through to anyone.

I dont know what to do, we cant pay the rent and have no way of contacting them apart from post where they take 2 months to reply.

Has any one any advice? thanks we are very worried

Firstly everyone got their rent allowance reduced from 1st january.
Well the amount those receiving RA contribute when up....it was in the budget, so that might explain the reduction you mention.

Also I know for me and anyone else I know who received rent allowance, that we have to go into the community welfare office during the clinic times for our area. I can only go in on a tuesday or friday between 10-12 in the mornings.
These times vary according to clinic and regions etc.

Instead of trying to phone....go in and see your community welfare officer. Talk to them face to face.....see why exactly your rent allowance has been stopped. You might find it it something simple this your monthly form wasnt submitted etc.
You wont know til you go in and ask....i know up here you;d NEVER get to talk to them on the phone unless they phone first.
