Would you have to go down to 15 inch wheels if going up to 60 inch tyres?

I have done this before but i went to my local tyre centre who checked it out first to see if they would fit...might be worth looking into before spending the money...

Should fit fine and be more comfortable. Slightly higher tyre wall is all.

If you want to retain similar diameter, maybe try 205/60 R16.
They are equivalent to 215/55 R16.

215/60 will be bigger in diameter, and you won't really know if they fit until you put them on and have a drive on a bumpy road.

I would check the load indice is the same as well, anytime a car has an expensive/odd size it is for a reason.
The load indice is the 2 numbers after the 16 just before the letter for speed rating.

Plenty of wheel arch in a Picasso. I'm no expert but I can't see a problem with the fit.

I'm sorry.. Are you saying 215/60 will have a larger diameter than 205/60 ?

Surely not, it will be narrower and the same diameter would be my understanding??

    Your understanding is wrong then.
215/60 will have larger diameter than 205/60.

    215/60 is 10mm wider than a 205/60 tyre (ish)

The profile of the 215/60 will be 129mm, the profile of a 205/60 will be 123mm.
There are two profiles in the diameter :)

The 55 or 60 part of the tyre size is the sidewall height written as a % of the total width.

So 60% of 215 is more then 60% of 205.

The two tyres you posted are completely different models so the price is not comparable...also, surely everyone is over the whole winter/all season tyre thing now? We just had a couple(1 in particular) of bad winters.

The tyre size is only 1 part of your consideration. What is the speed and load rating of the factory fitted tyres? These need to be the same on whatever tyres you choose too.
