I wonder how this would actually play out. Essentially a guy walks into a shop and sees a Gold Rolex Daytona and asks for a price. Told £5750 (or thereabouts) and buys immediately on his Amex. Gets receipt with correct description "Gold Rolex Daytona". Later that day gets a call from shop. They have made an error. The watch is actually worth £20,000-£25,000.

The OP's friend and shop came to an agreement.

I'd bring it back and hope they offered me something as a gesture of goodwill.

Yeah he got a black faced Daytona and a gift voucher for the price he paid.

But could you imagine if this had been a tourist and no longer in the country. I bet the sales assistant was sweating this one.

Can you imagine the day he had! I'd say he went straight to the pub after work

I'd thank them on my knees for spotting my temporary lapse in good taste and would gladly accept any decent looking watch of similar value in exchange :D:D:D

The Daytona as such isn't too bad ...but in gold it just screams pimp :D

    Have my babies. :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'd say he might be sweating alright, sweating like a new kid at the job centre :)

Yikes - squeaky moment for the shop.

There's a touch of the 'ah jaysus' about it though. I don't think I'd be able to keep it.
