Regular savings/investments for small limited company

    Hi guys

I am a Director on a small private limited company. We are looking to invest/save €500-€700 per month with the hope of a decent return per annum. I looked at EBS with their 4.1% but it is only for individuals and not set up for company account.

Do you have any advice on where we could channel money from our current account every month for a modest return of about 3-5% APR. We don't mind taking relatively low risks if the returns will be a bit better but would need to be pretty safe I think.

    Thanks

Keep it in cash chief. Unless you know you are going to be cash flow positive every month, you'd be nuts to have it in anything else.

Anyone else got views on this? Should we invest in Gold/Silver? Its very frustrating to have cash sitting in bank and not working for you or earning any interest.

You could try setting up a Permanent TSB online savings account, it earns 4% and lets you save up to 1000 a month. I don't see anything that limits it to an individual.

IMO only if you're a gold or silver investment company. Which you're not, so no. I've seen enough companies burned by illadvised placement of excess cash.

I am a gold bug so I would suggest gold yes! If anyone has money to spare (well done by the way, great that you have some excess cash at this time!) then some sort of gold savers account is a great option. Not necessarily for all of it but certainly for part of it.

    Have a look here - http://www.yourgoldfund.com/Gold-Savers-Account.php

Other thing is (and don't quote me on this) on your balance sheet your gold is reflected as an 'asset' and remains the price that you paid for it. So, if this is building up over the next 20 years then it could be a tax saving too... but you'd need to speak to an expert on that. Sorry Boarders if I've got this wrong but worth a thought Printer! Other thing is of course, you can access your 'savings' at any time. You could also speak to your accountants about investing in gold through a SIPP (self administered pension scheme).

There are many deposit accounts that offer fairly attractive rates of interest at the moment.
Alternatively you might try looking at unit linked funds. There are fund splits with asset mixes to suit all levels of risk appetite. Every Life company I deal with have offerings of this type.
