Sorry if this was already posted but will EA be releasing a Euro 2012 game? They normally do but I haven't seen anything about it yet.

WTF, EA were making those games since at least 1998(not sure about the 96 Euros)..... Why give up the monopoly now?!

Euro 08 game was ok(you couldn't score a shot from outside the box-main gripe) but I loved the last WC game.

I can't get my head around a new team making a football game, I can't remember a 3rd party since the PS2....and we all know how bad they ended up being. :(

Bollox. Was eagerly anticipating the new game as I normally get sick of FIFA around April and normally have a new game to play until the next FIFA. This Euro game should be hilarious.

So will this be the first tournament game to feature a qualified Ireland team?

Will be very interested to see the first trailer of this when it comes online

I have researched this for a few weeks, and apparently the game is not being made by Double Helix, and Warner Bros owned the rights to Euro 2004 & 2008 but had no problem subbing them to EA for the games.

My guess is that EA are making a Euro 2012 game, but there is no marketing until FIFA Street is out and selling copies as they would think too many people would not buy Street if a Euro game was coming out 2 month later.

My prediction is that we will get an official announcement in the next 2-3 weeks, see marketing (trailers, screenshots, bull**** buzzwords for the 'gameplay revelations') through April and the game be released in May.

That would be super if true!

I know EA canada do the FIFA games generally but do they also do the Euro & World Cup games or is that done by another EA studio? if another, they could be working on it on the QT.

I'm nearly sure it's EA Canada that does those too.

I know EA would probably do the best job but in a way I was kinda looking forward to someone else having a crack at it. Wouldn't have been the biggest disaster if it turned out crap you would still have fifa 12

    World_Cup_USA_%2794_Coverart.png

US Gold also did an official game for World Cup 90. I remember in particular that Liam O'Brien (look him up) was listed in the Ireland squad despite the fact that the real player hadn't kicked a ball for Ireland in about 2 years.

Regarding UEFA 2012, I find it unusual for one thing that EA aren't doing it, but also is it normal that there doesn't seem to be *any* great information at all out there about this game (eg I had a quick look but can't seem to find any site or footage of this game or even pre-order on amazon etc despite the release date being less than 2 months away). Almost makes me believe it's a practical joke?

I hope it is EA thats doing it as i didnt get Fifa12 this time around waiting for a euro game instead. I loved Fifa WC last time and still play it the odd time.

I think EA put all their eggs into Fifa Street this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭Barlett

I would imagine EA are still making it...like if it was a new developer they would have released screenshots and some info at this stage...since it'll probably be out around the end of May. I reckon EA are waiting for a few weeks so as not to overshadow FIFA Street

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

I read on some other forum where a member predicted there might be no actual stand alone game and instead 'Euro 2012' might just be a download that is added to FIFA12. As things stand that seems to make about as much sense to me as the idea that a rival company are releasing a game in less than 7 weeks yet haven't done *any* publicity for it. (they don't even have a mention of it on their official site).

Certainly the more I look the less I believe there is any actual game coming out from Warner/DoubleHelix anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,437 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

According to the Wiki link posted in this thread the game will supposedly run on CryEngine 3. So if nothing else it should look pretty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,799 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

As far as I remember the Fifa World Cup 2010 game was announced in January of that year, so I'd be extremely surprised (although very happy) to hear that EA were developing a Euro2012 game at this stage, and with less then 3 months left and no announcement it'd be extremely strange that one would suddenly pop up.

I'd be happy with a download as previously suggested as I imagine were there to be a Euros game it would be the same engine etc unlike World Cup 2012 which was somewhat different to the annual entry.

Everytime someone posts in this thread I click onto it thinking there will be news or some form of clarity on the situation. :(

Cannot believe there has been no word as to what is going on. Even if there is no game, why the **** does nobody know for sure?

    Agree and Disagree.

Agree in the sense of online, with all teams available, then you get a bigger pool to choose from.

Don't play offline to care about a RTTWC mode.

I wonder with this being DLC(and the late announcement) will it impact upon how different it is to FIFA 12.

I'm a bit worried this will be FIFA 12 with new stadiums, commentary and slightly different atmosphere.

But holding out hope it will at least be what WC was to FIFA 10.

A demo will be essential to entice me.

Unfortunately, the article posted above shows details which go against most of your hopes for Euro 2012.

You WILL be able to use all 53 teams that attempted to qualify will be in the DLC. So dont worry about the bigger pool for online.

This being DLC will hugely impact upon its difference to FIFA 12, as in there will be barely any.

Im almost certain this will be FIFA 12 with new stadiums, commentary and slightly different atmosphere.

At least what WC was to FIFA 10? 2010 FIFA World Cup was a far far better game than FIFA 10, and is widely renown as the best footy game for ages. The Euro 2012 DLC will be I would say 95% the FIFA 12 gameplay engine, maybe with a few tweaks. If they were going to be different it would have been a stand-alone game.

There wont be a demo. How could there be a demo of Downloadable Content?

Meant in how much different it was to FIFA 10.
Could have phrased it better I suppose.

I'm not sure, but I can't imagine many willing to fork out the money before they get a play of it.

I won't be forking out anyway for a rehash of 12 anyway, at least if you buy online maps, you get a new experience, but I can't see there being much uptake for a football game.

Sure we'll see what happens, though its unlikely I'll be purchasing on whats out there :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

It's not a re-hash, it's Downloadable content, it's an add-on. When you download COD MW3 map packs for example you get new Maps and new game modes, not a new experience, it's still the same COD MW3.

It's literally the same thing here. New teams, new stadiums and new game-modes.

There is nothing you need to try before you buy... It's FIFA 12. I've played online, career mode and Ultimate Team to death at this stage, so ill be shelling out the 1800 MS points for a Euro 2012 add on to take Ireland to glory in that, try the online with new teams, and try this Expedition Mode. I am expecting no improvement on FIFA 12. They obviously decided to focus on FIFA 13 instead of making a Euro game. I'm cool with that.

Basically you'll be downloading the Euro 2012 stadiums and extra cut scenes, everything else is there already on the disc, i'd say

This is a smart move by EA, you'd be more likely to get more buyers at €16 then a €45 purchase that will be obsolete in 1 months time anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭opengoal

aren't the international teams already in fifa 12 (disc)?? could you not just create your own custom euro 12 tourney without forking out another 15 quid???

Not ALL the qualified teams are in FIFA 12.

I've played a few custom versions of the tournament myself, (struggled to take Ireland out of the Group unfortunately), and I need to substitute a couple of sides in when setting it up.

Can't recall off the top of my head who the missing teams are though.

I'd definately consider buying the DLC, but to be honest would never consider buying the stand alone game.

Fifa12 has 14 out of the 16 finalists (Czech Rep and Ukraine are missing).

It has 24 out of the 53 UEFA nations in total. Strangely Wales is missing for some reason.

Just in case you aren't aware, if you buy a pre-owned copy of FIFA 12 and want to use it online you will have to buy an online pass also from EA which costs €10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,707 ✭✭✭IncognitoMan

You could always download additional national teams from the EAS Creation Centre and create the tournament instead of forking out for the DLC. Sure, you won't have the additional stadia etc, but the online community have recreated the vast majority of teams for others to download. They come complete with proper kits and badges too, if that's important.
