A big copper beech came down at home 2 years ago, probably close to 200 years old, I have cut the branches for firewood but the trunk remains,
it's roughly up to three feet high (and wide ) as it lies on the ground.
Would it be useful/desirable for wodturning or making furniture from
    - where would the best place be to find an interested party ?

    Any help/advice appreciated.

Indeed it would be useful for turning or cabinet making, and could be worth a few bob, especially if it is in one piece, good condition and not twisted.
First of all, you will need to have the tree assessed. Then it will have to be transported to the sawmill, seasoned, converted into boards (usually 10" x 2") and then kiln dried.
I have contacts who might be interested in county Wicklow, but if that's too far you could put up a post in the Woodcraft Forum.
