Basically, he could be getting punished for the way he took the penalty? It was seen as dis repectful, he also got a yellow card for the penalty. He was brought on as as a sub, and as soon as he scored the penalty was subbed straight off.

Just thought i'd bring the discussion up on:

    A) Why would it of been a Yellow Card?

    B) Would you punish the player?

Just to answer none of your questions but post a youtube.

Totti far more graceful effort was at least in training though. That guy was being as ass. Reckon he derserved the yellow but no idea what grounds they could give it on.

Whatever about the yellow card but if I was his manager I'd take him off for being an arsehole and attempting to take a penalty like that!

He's dead now so it's irrelevant.

    RIP

Wow, they are seriously harsh with their punishments for disrespect.

    rip.
and as far as the pen is concerned, yellow was harsh, plus you'd be able to throw ur hat on it, it wasnt hit with alot of power, goalie needs to train better. usless attempt

Dont see why he was booked in that at all. He didnt stop in his run up which was the only thing that I thought could have been bookable. You cant book him for not showing "respect" to an opponent so not a clue!

    Punish the keeper!

Can't see how it warrants a yellow. Also don't see it as disrespectful, it was done to throw the keeper off, which it did...

The FA in the UAE are fairly slow to act, this happened in July 2011 :pac:

Is this any different to Higuita's scorpion kick save?. The phrase 'man the fu*k up' should be applied there. It was a friendly match.

Curiously enough, UAE played and beat Lebanon again yesterday.

I guess if Columbia were 5-0 up at the time the scorpion kick wouldn't have been received as well by the English media, would have been a sign of disrespect, taking the piss whatever. But at 1-1 or 1-0 (I think) it was accepted as just being bonkers catflap mad.

Theres a time and a place for these things really.

Sad that he died, RIP. But regarding the penalty, there is no chance I would give that a yellow. Was it rude? Yeah a little I guess but who cares, there's plenty of smack talk that goes on during the match that I would consider much ruder.

In the African Nations Cup final between Zambia and Cote D'ivoire, when Drogba missed his penalty the keeper started taunting Drogba and he didn't receive anything for that.

As far as I can tell he didn't break any rules so can't see any grounds to give him a yellow. Footballers try all sorts of tricks to mess with the goalie's head when taking penalties (goalies do it to put off the penalty taker too). It's all deemed legit. This is just an extreme example of such.

As far as im concerned, that time and place is in friendlies or pre season exhibition games or whatever, if its competitive fixture then fair enough. Brazil players have done some unconventional stuff over the years in games of no importance other than to entertain the crowd. Its hardly disrespect but anyway.

It's just an improvised strike of the ball to catch the goalkeeper out, alright it may be cheeky but never worth a yellow card or even a warning for that matter. If the striker sees it as his best chance of scoring, then it's his perogative to take the penalty as he wishes.
