Usually around 2 weeks. Well that's how long mine took anyway. Did you get your letter confirming you are going to get it?

Well a doctor gave me a cert for the next few weeks. so theres a chance I may not get it?
Sorry for my ignorance, but I tried googling it but all I came up with was that its 120eur a week?

I don't know anyone who has ever been turned down tbh, not if they're employed and just off sick for a few weeks anyway. It's just they have to send you a letter from the deciding officer to notify you of whether you got it or not. It should be €188 a week but then that depends on your circumstances, you could get less.

Judging by the offer my brother received for the job seekers Im assuming I'll still be classed as a dependent. But thank you for your help

Not necessarily. You brother was likely applying for Jobseeker's Assistance which has a lot of qualification criteria. You'll be applying for Illness Benefit which is purely based on a qualifying employee's loss of earnings so you should get whatever rate your current pay dictates.

You will get 188 a week if your present weekly income is in excess of 300 euro.If you have a adult dependant you will receive an extra 124 odd euro.
