Spending too much time online

Anybody think they spend too much time on the interwebs, or just boards in general?

I see loads of posts on threads saying things like "not this thread again" or something similar but most of them would be threads I'd never read before and this just got me thinking that some people spend way too much time on boards?

Are you a self-confessed boards-aholic, can you lot live without boards-ahol? Are do you know someone who is?

porn doesn't count though cos that's natural....:)

I get your point, it irritates the bejaysus out of me when people reply crap like "who cares" and "not this again" and so on. If you aren't interested then jog on, no need to comment or even read. You'd swear this shít was compulsary they way some people go on!
Plus the post counts some people have are nothing short of insane, when you consider that it's likely those type of people are also strung out on facebook, twitter and so on, I can't see how some of them find the time for basics like eating or washing themselves never mind go out for a walk or a few pints or whatever.

Well OP you're here long enough now to know how it works surely? Before starting a thread use the search function, because it can save you a lot of hassle. It is probably the topic repetition that irks most and attracts the negative comments you highlighted. Sometimes you'll even see two threads started on the same topic. But thankfully the Nazi's wonderful Mods are pretty quick in sorting this out.

So regarding your question of being a boards-aholic. Depending on my daily caseload I do log in quite regularly. I was offline before Christmas after my Mother died and I really didn't miss Boards.ie or see any point in login back on tbh. But one day I managed to force myself to log in and it's a daily routine again that I enjoy. But I don't think I am a boards-aholic.

I find that the time I spend on these sites leaves me less time for the 50 or so porn sites that I have bookmarked.:):):)

Boards has me firmly in it's grip.
At times I feel like Irish hostage Brian Keenan handcuffed to a radiator.

Will I ever smell freedom again?

just for arguments sake, has there been a thread like this before/recently?

I never use the search function and very rarely start a thread unless it's something totally off the chain

Assuming you sleep 8 hours a night, you average about 2 posts every waking hour , 7 days a week, 365 days a year.:eek::eek:

No junkie shoots up that often.

I know I spend to much time on the computer. I've accepted that I won't cut down though.

I'm doing a computing course so from 9:00 to 16:00 I'm on a computer and them I walk home which takes about 45 mins.
When I get home I'm immediatley on the internet until 19:00 then I have dinner.

after that I am back on it until I go to bed.

In my opinion its very difficult to NOT be online. We are so dependant on technology and it effects our lives daily and there is so much on offer.

Haven't a bother with the level of time I spend on the internet. I'd be missing out otherwise.

I'd spend a fair amount of time online, although, I do work in a desert/warzone. Not like i can pop down to the shops!

I find I spend a lot of time on internet - when Im bored... (not so busy at work at the moment).

Before I had access to internet (or knew its benefits) I use to do the crossword at work, or read the paper!...

I have a few main sites I visit ALL THE TIME:
Facebook - also check on my phone
Gmail - also check on my phone
    Askaboutmoney.com
    RTE.ie

..........I think I spend too much time on - trying to pass time.........

My laptop is gone kaput... and I am not missing logging on at home at all... I can get a quick update using phone!... haha!

I do think 2nd Row Donkey is addicted...

You know you spend too much time online when.....

You have called out someone's screen name while making love to your significant other.
