    Hi folks

I traded my scar in yesterday for a army R85A1
at the moment it is firing 310 to 315 with blowback enabled which i assume is another drain on the battery

the actual range of the gun would nt be a patch on my m4 so what should i look to change and where can i source the correct pieces ?

will it be barrel piston hop up etc ?

    thanks

    ed

Used to have one of these, they're a funny kind of AEG. I reckon you could do the usual - get a nice inner barrel and good new hop rubber for a start. Watch the FPS if you get a tightbore as it will come up a bit and you'll be tight enough to the joule. I seem to recall I changed out the hop unit too cos it just wasn't doing the biz, but can't recall whether it was an improvement or not. Luckily they take an M4 typr hop up which is easy to get. Most decent Irish Airsoft shops should stock stuff like this.
In terms of internals it's up to yourself, ya could change plenty - they're pretty basic and rough as stock. They have an oddball gearbox with a well documented semi auto issue, there are a couple of threads online that deal with this, worth a google.
They take a longer piston than standard, so you'll need to bear that in mind if replacing, although all the SR25 type AEGs about now means that those long pistons are a little easier to source, maybe in Ireland maybe online somewhere. My one used to eat pistons for breakfast, went back to using 8.4v batteries in it after a while. I never looked at the angle of engagement on that gun and in hindsight maybe that was something worth investigating.
Also if your taking it apart, watch the wiring, it can be awkward to set back in, and very easy to pinch in certain spots around the gearbox.

    That's my two cents :p

my mate had one, and his hop up gave way one day so threw in a spare grrn G&G hop up rubber and bucking and the range after the samll change was insane, im not joking so maybe try one of them, and then like mentioned a tightbore barrel. I always found the RoF very low on that model so might be something to work on although I'd start with the TBB and hop up.

thanks for the replies lads ...

where around are the best stockists of upgrade parts for airsoft guns that would have what i am looking for on the shelf ?

also if i do disable the blowback ? will i see much improvement in performance and battery life?

my mate's blowback broke but seemed to have no effect on battery life good or bad. most airosft retailers will have what you're looking for, the main ones i use are Hobbyairosft, SEairsoft and AirsoftEire.com. Although i think website wise airosfteire might be the best way to check what you need.

If you're going as far as disabling the blowback you should also look into the piston mods for it. It allows you to use a standard V2 piston in place of the 19 tooth piston.

As for the semi auto issue, an active breaking mosfet will pretty much solve it (it has on my G&G at least :p).

Well since I put this up I disabled the blow back . A review on the redwolf website recommends this before using to skirmish to pro long battery life , and I also changed the hop up rubber
After some use playing on sunday the range was vastly improved , as for disabling the blow back, RoF was up and I definitely noticed how smooth the gun was without the added draw on the battery caused by the blowback and can easily say battery life is extended by removing it
