    Hi,
The OH's iPhone 3gs it really quite poor at picking up on our Vodafone at home broadband wi-fi router. All other devices in the house, laptops, Ps3, ipod touch's and my iPhone 4S have no issues. Her phone seems like it needs to be quite near the router to pick up the signal. I've re-set it recently to factory settings but no change...
    Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

    Thanks.

I've seen a similar issue before, the phone had to be about 2 - 3 feet from the wireless router to pick up wifi. I ended up replacing the wifi antenna. You could first remove the screen and reseat the connection for the antenna to the main board - it is connector number 6 in the top left corner of the main board (should be labelled).

If this doesn't work then disconnect the wifi antenna from the main board and leave it disconnected - check if you still have to be within the same distance to the router to pick up wifi. If you do then it's most likely that you will need to replace the wifi antenna. I got the antenna from these guys There are plenty of videos online to show you how to replace the antenna.

Hopefully its just the WiFi aerial as stated above - usually only breaks from physical damage.
Or could be the dreaded wifi chip problem which can sometimes be fixed with a reflow.
