Have a problem with my 03 tdi octavia
the car was gettin stuck in gear + hard to select gear
My mechanic thought it might be dual mass flywheel
When the box was on the ground it wouldnt select reverse but we chanced it as i already had 4 piece kit bought
Fitted the new flywheel kit and now it wont go into reverse?
    any ideas?

I'd love to know how your mechanic came to the conclusion(at your expense) that the clutch and flywheel would have been the problem.

flywheels are common to go in them as everybody knows + can give similer symptoms
the flywheel could be heard rattling on start up
the flywheel + clutch are in car from new + it has 200k miles

    cant win them all lol

Flywheel rattleing on start up is one thing. But unless the flywheel collapsed completely(rendering the car undrivable) then it wouldn't really stop the car from selecting gear....and wouldn't stop it at all when the engine is off.
