Ebay Returns and postage

Hi guys bought shoes on ebay, they selling has 100% feedback and the shoes were sold as new and unused. Got them today and they are all marks and have been worn, soul is dirty. It also came in very bad packaging just the shoe box covered in black plastic nothing to protect in it transit!

Anyway the shoes are marked in a few spots I emailed the seller and they were sold off the shop floor as they are a shoe shop but in the ad it says they are new and unused. I don't know how they sent them out with all the marks anyway they said they would give me a refund just request it from ebay return but seem to be avoiding my question if I will get the 15pounds posted back alone with the 40 pounds i paid for the shoes.

If they don't refund post its going to cost the bones for 30euro on post I will lose out because they sent me damage shoe so wouldn't be worth my while to get a refund, so would just keep the shoes and give back feedback.

So anyone know if i should get my 15 pounds postage back

Simple answer - no. You could open a not as described dispute and put in an amount you would be willing to take as a partial refund instead - the seller could agree to that or just request them back. Also, you will need proof for paypal that you did send the item back, which you can only get by sending by registered post.

Thanks so if i open that and the seller doesnt agree do I have to send back the shoes anyway and take the hit?

The seller has to respond to a dispute, when you open it you can choose whether to ask for a full refund or a partial refund. If he accepts partial refund you dont have to return the item, if he refuses the partial refund then he has to offer a full refund on return of item.

If you dispute you will get back all the money you paid, but you will not be refunded the cost of returning the shoes. You should return them by registered post too, otherwise you'll have no proof they were received and you could get nothing if the seller claims they don't arrive.

You could be dealing with a seller that did'nt even see the shoes ..Maybe he used a dropshipping service .

Anyway follow the advice above , but initial communication with seller is crucial to attempt to reach an agreement before involving Paypal .

Thanks everyone, they have offered a full refund which is great but still leaves me down 15euro to registered post it back to them. Im waiting for my gf to come home on friday to see them if she wants to keep them or not. If she wants to keep them would it be cheeky to ask for a partial refund for the damage?

That would be fairly common practice.
