Norton Anti Virus

    Hi All,

I uninstalled Norton antivirus because my free trial had expired.

I purchased the Norton antivirus CD at the time I bought the netbook, but the netbook doesn't have a CD drive!

I thought I could still install it, as I have the product key, but I can't find where or how I can download it again without purchasing another subscription online, or using a cd drive.

Surely there is a way around this, as I have already paid for the year, and I have the product key?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Use another computer with a DVD drive and copy the content of the CD onto a USB stick.

Thanks for the replies. Was hoping there was somewhere I could type in the product key online!

You can download the installer from Cnet... or from Norton if you like having to submit your email address. Quicker to just Google the download off cnet though.

Why would you want to type in the product key online?

Copy the content of the CD onto a USB stick, put it into your netbook, run Setup.exe from the USB stick, enter the license key when prompted.

which requires another CD ROM drive somewhere :P

Easiest thing is download the files online as prescribed. Here is the link:

Best accessory for netbooks and ultrabooks is a USB-powered DVD ROM drive. They are fairly inexpensive and owing to the fact that you use a disc only a few times a year, makes more sense than having one in your laptop 24/7, adding dead weight anyway.

And you are sure this trial version will match with the license key?

Computers with optical drives and a USB connector are not entirely extinct yet. ;)

True, but the download will take all of 5 minutes, and the OP would know within another couple of minutes whether or not it accepts her code.

For all I know, it could be NIS or 360. Norton offers a whole rake of anti-virus suites.

And as it goes with that stuff, it's a bit tedious to remove once it was installed. I believe they offer a removal tool for their products on their website, as the Windows uninstaller certainly won't do.

Yes. Having used the method multiple times to reinstall NIS. With the NIS download, of course, not NAV.
