Trade-In

I have a 00D BMW 318 convertible with 79k miles on the clock. The car has both hard-top and soft-top.

When in a garage today they said car needs 2 new tyres c €200 in total. It also is due a NCT in the next month so will need a service and they guys also mentioned a few other things that need to be fixed. Am very tight with cash so am not really in a position to spend all this.

Am thinking I may trade-it in for a cheaper car (don't have any in mind but value c €500/€750) as I don't use the car much but I do need a car.

Any opinions on what it may be worth and of reputable second hand car dealers to go to?

Even though you are tight for cash, I'd recommend putting two new tyres on it and run it through the NCT to see what's wrong with it. Then see what needs fixIng and try get it an NCT. Give it a good clean and take some decent pictures and put it up on Donedeal for €1750.:)

Depending on the size of your alloys you can pick up part worn tyres for about €35 each. Feck paying 200 euro for tyres if you aren't using it that much to begin with.

Thanks for the info. Actually have the NCT middle of August. Where can you pick up worn tyres?

    Couple of other things:

Front grill fell off so need to source a new one. I checked Halfords but no such look. Any idea where to get one?

It's a convertable but have a hard top as well. Was thinking of selling hard top separately as don't need it and don't believe it would add value if sold as part of car. Anyone know how much would get for it and where to go to sell it? Am not keen on online selling tbh.

Sorry am not great on cars so any help or advice is much appreciated!:)

Scrapyard for the grille, hard top might persuade someone who was dubious about security etc to buy it.

Certainly ont sell the hard top before you sell the car.

Of course sell the hard top! It's worth 500 euro at least and there's no way that 500 would be added onto the car!

Tyre fail is a free visual retest so don't buy tyres yet if you're broke. If theyre dangerous, however, ignore me
