Broken Laptop Screen

I dropped a book on my laptop. When I turned it on there was a grey bar across the middle of the screen. When I start up the laptop now sometimes there is a yellow transparent bar or other times the screen is normal. However after a few seconds the grey bar appears and you can't see the centre of the screen. I can get the screen replaced locally. However I would like to know if this will definitely sort the problem. The screen displays perfectly normal if you connect it to the tv.

Sounds like a new screen will sort the grey line.

Ya, seems like a new screen. Most places charge somewhere between €110 - €150 so shop around, you should have it back in a day or two at the most under normal situations. All this of course depends on your particular make of laptop and weather. Also have a good look at the screen casing to see if you done any phyical damage to it as you may need this done as well
