There's 2 fuse boxes in the car, one in the engine bay near the battery and the other behind the glovebox. As far as I know it's most likely the fuse behind the glovebox that has blown. Before you instal a new amp check there's no metal object in the cigarette lighter socket which will cause it to blow again. The fuse is 15 amp and should say CIG where it goes, one of the blue ones, they look like this.

Grrr. Blasted cheap'n'cheerful 'lectrical kit. It'll be a standard automotive fuse (probably a 10 amp) that's gone - you'll know by looking at it, the metal strip visible through the coloured plastic on top will be separated. Compare with one of the good ones. The fuse boxes on those are under the bonnet near the battery, and below the dashboard on the left of the passenger footwell.

Autodata says its fuse 5 (15amp) on the dash fusebox.

Yes it's likely it caused some kind of short in it, have also heard similar happening if coins fall down in it. Shouldn't be any damage, just a fuse blown.

Right, i have the same problem with the radio/lighter fuse i think, i have removed the glove box but not a clue what im looking at/for. Are the fuses behind another panel that i have to open?

EDIT: Found it! its on the roof of the glovebox if that makes sense!

On my car it was behind a little drop down compartment that is to the right of the steering wheel if that makes sense? Just pull it out and there should be a diagram on it explaining what each fuse is.
