    Hi,

Going to call on the 'power of the crowd' here and see what you guys can come up with:

So, it's my Mam's birthday in June (she's in her late fifties) and I'm planning on surprising her by taking her away for 3-4 nights but not sure of a suitable destination for Mams...? - (She's been through a lot the past couple of years and deserves it, plus she helped me out in a big way recently for which I shall be forever indebted). In light of this, I want to make it a kind of one-off special occasion. I know splurging the cash in the currecnt economic blah blah blah is frowned upon, but to be honest - f*ck it, one day she won't be here and I'll regret not following through on this idea - So I'm going for it anyway ;)

Any suggestions? - so far I've been thinking of the follwoing:

New York / Las Vegas / Dubai / Berlin / Rome / Paris

I'd like to try and keep the price down if I could but I don't mind spending a little if it's worth it. As for activities, the usual: sightseeing, shopping, eating out, a few drinks, shows, the beach etc. All suggestions welcome and thanks in advance folks!

    J

Just bring her to Doolin and do a trip to the Aran Islands. Forget about passports, security checks, etc.

    finbarrk,

I've updated my original post to include more info (my bad!); Doolin is not really what I'm looking for, but cheers for the suggestion :)

If she hasn't been previously then New York is where I would pick, it's got everything.

Depends on what she's into but my Mam loved Rome. Laodsa sightseeing and she was really interested to see the Vatican etc.

New York would also be great but she might need more than 3-4 nights to see everything, especially if it's her first time

Don't know what age your mum is, but if your doing long haul it's going to be very tiring if your only going for 3-4 days. Munich, Budapest, Vienna. Madrid is also a lovely city especially this time of year when it's quite mild and not so crowded. You can also add Seville and Lisbon to your list.
