The seller seems to have an ad that actually speaks the truth.
    With such info as -

Drives well top end but slow on take off
V Slight pull to left that alignment didn't solve.
Still hard to start in cold even after 4 plugs changed.

I found it refreshing but it got me thinking. Would you buy a car from a seller like this or would you prefer the old 'sure they all do that' and live in ignorant bliss? I really can't decide if honesty in a car ad is a good thing.

And btw, I have nothing to do with the car/seller/donedeal etc. etc.

If I was looking for that car, this seller would be the first one to call.

I'd prefer a car that was honestly good.

Honestly? I'd leave it to him - there's fields of them everywhere that work properly.

Honest ad, but then he ruins it with a pet hate of mine.
    No offers pls

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Every car out there isn't. Nice to see a seller admitting the problems, especially seen he could have warmed up the car before anyone came to see it, thus masking a major problem.

    +1

I understand private sellers masking their cars but I can't understand dishonest garages.. shouldn't they try to put some effort in making business and keep/bring new customers that way?
Especially one would think that professional dealers, as a business, would have an agreement with another business, some mechanic nearby, to fix all those million little things which are putting customers away? To give a customer piece of mind? Little things that would cost them no more than i.e. €100 but could sell a car even €500 higher! It's a win-win situation for both a seller and a customer, right?
Also, when I, as customer, is asking to fix i.e. Timing belt with decent additional cost, most of them were saying that no it's not possible they don't do that  Well sorry that I wanted to buy clean car in working condition and just drive away FFS!

People spend so many litres of petrol and sitting in traffic to get to see "mint car" which turns out to be bullshiete, in most cases, at least in Dublin!

A friend of mine was looking to buy Merc CLK (1998-2001 model) since December. Two weeks ago spotted a dark red one looks nice according photos but was wondering why it's double priced than average (€4000 vs €2000). Called the garage first and everything sounded OK so went there to see and test..
    1. a tire was flat
    2. couldn't find car keys easily
    3. bonnet was stuck, couldn't open it
    4. interior stinks on some acid like crap
    5. roof was scratched with garage's own ad-banner thingy!
    6. They had few own staff cars infront of this Merc and took them half an hour to arrange some space.
    Finally let's ride!
    7. well not really.. clutch/gearbox fault -couldn't select any gear
    8. and no room for price negotiation because it's Avangarde model

OK that was maybe one of the worst garages i've visited but 2-3 other were pretty similar also.

Sorry long post.. just so much unfair play

I sold a 156 a while back and advertised it this way, pointing out its faults, as well as its attributes. It was listed on a thread a while ago here.

I thought it was the best way to sell, especially an Alfa. I hate wasting my time going out to view junk and I didnt want to waste others. Also, if you point out all the cars faults, they cant come back a week later looking to offload it back on you again.
