Is it possible to work two jobs? If so what are the conditions associated with it, like is there a maximum amount of days/hours you can work in a week etc?

Both are temporary contract jobs, i currently work weekends and have now been givin the opportunity to start and gain crucial experience in a career i want to eventually commit to full time. My current job is only temporary but there is plenty of work to keep me going for another year maybe, the new one is temporary aswell but i dont know what the work situation will be like after the 3 months is up. Id like to keep ALL options open if posssible. Is it legal to work both jobs? what are the tax implications?

Any info will be very useful, thanks

Here you go - I don't think this is per job either.
The Organisation and Working Time Act 1997 states that the maximum average working week for many employees cannot exceed 48 hours. This does not mean that a working week can never exceed 48 hours, it is the average that is important. The average may be calculated in one of the following ways:

Over 4 months for most employees
Over 6 months for employees working in the security industry, hospitals, prisons, gas/electricity, airport/docks, agriculture and employees in businesses which have peak periods at certain times of the year such as tourism.
over 12 months where there has been an agreement between the employer and the employees to this effect. The agreement between employer and employees must be approved by the Labour Court.
The calculation of 48 hours does not include annual leave, sick leave or maternity/adoptive/parental leave.
The legislation also lays down rules for night workers, minimum breaks and rest periods. There are also special provisions in relation to Sunday working – see below.

    Exceptions
The provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 on working time and rest periods do not apply to all employees. They do not apply to the Gardaí, Defence Forces, employees who control their own working hours or family employees on farms or in private homes. The working hours of young people under the age of 18 are regulated by the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act 1996.

There are separate regulations governing the working time of trainee doctors (SI 494 of 2004) and employees working at sea.

Employees employed in transport activities (SI 20 of 1998) and in certain categories of civil protection services (SI 52 of 1998) are currently exempt from provisions on maximum average working week and statutory rest breaks/periods.

You can work as many jobs as you want if you can get them.
Obviously you have to let tax(revenue) know or job will when they register you.
The only thing will hange if you are laiming benefits you will be gone over hours so will not be entitled anymore.

If its a driving job there are huge restritions on that now where max amount of driving at one time and min breaks and rest periods and 10 hours gap before able to start again

thanks miller, im not claiming any benefits so thats not a problem. Yeah i was enquiring about it in work yesterday and one of the women said that she worked a second job during the week but it was only 4 hours a day, she said the same as you with regard declaring it to revenue etc. No its not a driving job. its a IT Tech job, the job i have at the moment is weekend work in a factory. Decent pay but my girlfriend is pregnant with our second child and in order to have one of us at home with them id rather she cut her hours to 21 per week or packed it in all together as she works 37.5 already with 12 hour days thrown into the mix. not good when raising a family.

    thanks again
