Hi worked for 6 months on a temp contact from august-feb. Before that I was on JSA or JSB (not sure) for 3 months after finishing college.

I finished work and went to Welfare office and signed on last week. After being told that I need to bring in my p45 (which i did this week) I did and asked for any idea how long it may take to receive payment. I was then told to go to my local SWO this thursday. When I go this week will I get anything for last week? I was at my local SWO before so I am wondering will I have to fill out big forms again?

Im assuming you mean the CWO? community welfare officer?. The guys are there to MAYBE give you a payment while you are waiting for your normal claim to be processed. you shouldn't need to fill out more paperwork I don't think. It depends on busy the social is with regards to claims. I applied on Nov 2010 for mine and it was only sorted out near end of January 2011.

Word of advice. If you are going to get work again on a temp contract that you know will be finishing up for sure ask the social to put you on casual slips. That means you fill out the days you are working, get your employer to stamp it and send it off to social on weekly basis. If you are working more than 3 days you normally wouldn't need them but the fact that you knew it was a temp contract could have helped you alot if you had of been on them. The social should prob have advised you of this if you told them it was temp.

You will still be on the social but you won't be getting paid from them but its good for temp contracts so that when the contract ends you have paid your stamps as you normally would and you could just tell social your contract finished and they would take you off the slips and put you back on JSB full time again and you would only need to wait a week or 2 for your payment in Post office then.

You will have to fill out a supplementary welfare allowance form and you will get paid from whenever you originally filed your Social Welfare claim.
