I'm on a Vodafone bundle €45 per month.

I got a call on Friday from Vodafone telling me that unless I signed up for a further 12 month contract my price going forward was liable to increase.

I've been with BT Ireland/Vodafone for the past 5 years.

Did anyone receive a call similar to this and is this legal?

A few months ago they rang my mother and offered her a ~€5/month discount if she signed another 12 month contract. I don't think she got a call like yours though.

It seems like strange scare tactics to get you signed up for another 12 months.

If you have an ongoing contract with due notification then yes they have the right to increase the price (and you have the right to cancel your service if you disagree with the new price). Chances of them increasing the price are slim how ever...

got a call before christmas offering the 12 month extension for 38euro instead of 40 and 8mb for the price of 3mb. didnt take up the offer as i like the freedom to cancel.

Surely the logical answer to that "threat" is then I will be an ex-customer!

If you are outside your 12 month contract you only have to give a month's notice anyway - and a price increase will entitle you to leave also.
