Is it ok to use a resume template from MS Word?

I'm in the middle of re-vamping my CV and have just seen some very nice templates on Microsoft's site. There's a single page template that is looking very attractive...

So would this be ok to use? Are interviewers generally "wise" to these templates and if so, is it a bad thing?

    Thanks

Interviewers don't care if you have used a template, as long as your CV is organised correctly, has the relevant information on it, and you appear suitable for the job.

If you're a graphic designer/layout artist/technical writer or something like that it would look bad but if the job doesn't include laying out documents or being creative it won't matter. Most agencies chop them up into their format anyway.

I've used the same MS Word template for the last 11 years, and have always received positive feedback from agencies and HR staff. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Just don't use an overly complicated design; use one that's simple enough to be displayed in older versions of word etc.

    I won't be sending a .doc though, it'll be a PDF.

If you're applying direct .pdf is perfect, if applying to an agent you'll need to send them a .doc as they will want too hide your personal details from their client initially and format it to match with the other CVs they are submitting.
