    Help please.
My laptop screen is displaying all large graphics. ie. Jpegs or videos with a strong red tint. Also the screen has a blue line stretching from top to bottom.
I tried connecting it to an external monitor, 37inch lcd tv and it was perfectly fine. Tried to update graphics card but its fully updated.
Took screenshots with greenshot and the problem is captured on the screenshot.

My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 3200.
Also the screen goes red on initial startup????

If it's fine on an external monitor it's more than likely the screen not the card.

Screen shot looks perfectly normal to me.

It's more likely that there is a problem with your display rather than with the graphics card.

Screenshot appears normal so as above its likely your monitor is the issue. Try reseting it to "factory settings" from the osd

Yoyo could you explain that process to me. The osd reset thing I mean.
I'm perplexed by the screenshots. They were showing problems even when I moved the pictures with in the display. The red markings would stay in the same place even when I grabbed the tab header and moved the box.

Yep no red markings on that screenshot. Its likely the display. The osd is the on screen display, usually accessed by pressing the "Menu" or "OSD" button on the display. Use the buttons to navigate to the reset monitor option. Tbh sounds to me like the monitors backlight acting up

Its a laptop though so no buttons on the screen. Can it be done through control panel or otherwise.

Nope, I thought it was a desktop appologies. I think your issue relates to the backlight bulb in the screen failing. If its under warranty I'd return it or else get a replacement screen/backlight bulb installed.
If you are confident with computers replacing laptop screens isn't that difficult, the bulb is more difficult to replace. But you can replace the whole screen (which includes bulb) by getting a replacement on ebay. Just to confirm do try the laptop with an external display again just in case its some quirky driver issue.

    Eh would that be expensive.

Around €100 maybe less for the screen, all you really need is a PH00 screwdriver for most laptops. Just unplug it, remove battery, take off rubber screw points on screen bezel (some manufacturers don't screw the bezel on, Dell m1530 is one I know like this). Then use a flat head screw driver/creditcard etc and carefully remove the bezel, unscrew the lcd panel, unplug the inverter/data (video) cable and replace the new screen.
I know that probably sounds complex but its actually not too bad. Look for a manufacturers "service manual" for your make of laptop. This should have a section geared towards screen removal. Also look at Youtube for videos, on most laptops its the same process repeated over.

    eek! 73€. http://www.ebay.ie:80/sch/i.html?LH_TopRatedSellers=1&_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A6%257C72%253A5788&rt=nc&_nkw=Toshiba+satellite+l450d+11w+laptop+screen&_dmd=2&_dmpt=UK_Computing_LaptopAccess_RL&_sticky=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=2&_sc=1
I presume this is what you mean. I better do a system restore and fuddle with the settings first though.

Yeah, thats the kind. It would prob end up costing you more as well when postage is factored in. Still a shop will charge a good deal more. You could also look at adverts, sometimes broken laptops are sold for parts, you may get lucky :)

Nick its there anyway of finding out whether its the screen itself or the screen inverter that's the prob.
    Big difference in price. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/TOSHIBA-SATELLITE-L450D-SCREEN-INVERTER-K00065940-/220956874346?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33720e566a

Inverter issues are usually brightness issues, such as the screen being on but all dark. Color issues tend to point towards backlight bulb, the floresent lamp the inverter powers

    Nick

Edit: Just to point out, your problem may be the inverter, but you may buy a new one and find it doesn't help, if you want to go ahead and chance it it may work :)

It could be something simple like a dodgy ribbon cable connection... if you're lucky.
