As above, been considering a bipod for ages now for my HMR but can't decide on what spec bipod I want to get.

Can't decide if I want a small one and lie down on the ground to fire.

    Or

A good high one that I can kneel down and use.

    Or a mixture of both.

What do ye recommend? What do you have.

i use a sun optics 6-9 tilt and swivel bipod for prone shooting. they are a great quality item for a fraction of the cost of a harris one. the only issue i have is that i can get caught for height from time to time so a 9-13 will suit me better

I agree the 9-13 swivel is great imo. I have it on my .17hmr at the moment. The 13-27 would do due to no re coil basically so doesn't have to be locked into your shoulder as much. Out of them all the 9-13 is perfect. Hope this helps.

I got a 9-13 knock off harris on ebay and it suits all my needs. Its not swivel but that doesn't bother me. Its great quality and its all the height i need. 6-9 is more suited for shooting off a bench i reckon.

I have bipods in every size.
When shooting at targets I prefer the 6 to 9in model but for hunting I use the 9 to 13in model.
Get the swivel ones as they are well worth the few quid extra.

    I have a 6-9" and a 9-13", both swivel.
The 9-13" is a Harris knock off, have it a few years now & works great for hunting from prone position, rarely ever go beyond 9"". I picked up a Harris 6-9" lately, I found that if I was out with the lamp and taking a shot off the bonnet of the jeep the 9" was too high. The Harris is a whole different job tho, much better construction.

If your a hunting man dont get a small one... ;)

My first ever bipod was a small one and its grand if your up hill and shooting down, or on a completely flat ground. But if theres a tuft of high grass or the target is even a small bit higher then forget it.

THese days I always get a 12-25 harris bipod for all my rifles and Im very impressed. WOuld never go back to a small one.

Aswell, lying flat on the grass can be a pain if its wet. With the small bipod you have no choice but to lie down flat and get soaked.

Get the big harris swivel bipod, handy for shooting over undulating ground you can sit or lie down behind it athough you may have to crane your neck a little when lying down (if your a fatty you won't have to worry about it;)).

    +1 Harris swivel bi pod.

Can't remember if it is a standard feature on harris or not but Id recommend ones with a set number of locking point along the length of the telescopic legs- they're just easier to use than the fully adjustable ones
