Anybody have any idea what the cost of a full service + valet + covering up scratches, on a 2007 Ford Focus should cost in Galway or if you can even find a place that will do all three?
The ford dealer in Galway city quoted over 300 euro for a full service. As its my first service since I bought the car last year I'd like to get it done right but 300+ for a service alone seems excessive.

How many scratches and how bad are they, ie is there exposed metal showing or are you just talking minor scratches. If you post some pics of damage it might be easier to get an indication of the cost to fix.

A service varies in what work is actually done, plenty of places doing €99 jobs where oil, filters and fluids topped up, fine if that's all the car needs but if the service schedule indicates new plugs, belts etc it can cost a lot more.

Get it fully serviced in a reputable independent garage who will discuss with you what is required at this stage considering what's been done to date, coolant change, brake fluid, serpantine belt, timing belt, brake discs etc.

Than head off to somewhere that does valeting, I wouldn't look to get it all done in the one place :)

There are quite a few on the bonnet but most of the scratches are minor, basically showing white under the paint. There are two 3 inch scratches which are down to the metal on the left and right side right at the bottom of the doors. They are mainly cosmetic but annoying and I'd like to get them seen to professionally but as I've never had it done before so I haven't a clue as to what the cost would be.

Regarding the service, I thought I read on here that the the 99 euro services were a bit pointless? Mileage is 55000 by the way.

    Thanks for the response.

Thanks for that. Just thought it would be easier to get everything done in one place.

Most decent garages don't do valeting, some main dealers do, most contract it out. Easier and cheaper are hard to marry :)

They're not at all pointless if all your car needs is an oil service. It depends completely on the mileage, the car and the service history.
