TOWBAR WIRING 1999 Audi A6

Hi, When wiring a towbar socket on a 1.9 TDI 1999 Audi A6, is it ok to just splice into the wiring in the rear of the car or should one of those multiplex things be used. Also, there is a little socket hanging in the boot on the left hand side, does anyone know what this is for, just out of interest. Thanks

Hi,

When wiring a towbar socket on a 1.9 TDI 1999 Audi A6, is it ok to just splice into the wiring in the rear of the car or should one of those multiplex things be used.
